Hello. I’m David Johnson. I’m a conlanger in my mid-sixties and married with one adult son. I live in the scenic English county of North Yorkshire and work as a librarian specialising in material in Western European languages.
I have imagined languages and countries off and on since I was little and my creations have got more serious and more complicated as I’ve got older. I’m a member of the Language Creation Society.
For a long time, I was active on bulletin boards, but during the Covid pandemic, I got to like a more simple life with less information input. I also discovered I have ADHD and that less input is a good way to calm it. So nowadays I just concentrate on my own work.
I’ve made Toa into an Earth-like planet with an advanced civilisation to illustrate ideas I’d like to see taken up more here on Earth.
I’ve made its language, Letoa my sole active conlang project so I’ll put all my ideas into it and make it as strange and beautiful as I can. The project is informed by a degree of realism but not driven by it.
