Hello. My name is David Johnson. I am a conlanger in my mid-sixties from the scenic English county of North Yorkshire. I am married with an adult son. I am a partially-retired librarian specialising in material in the Romance languages.
Imagining languages and countries has been important to me since I was little and my creations have got more serious and more complicated as I have got older. I am a member of the Language Creation Society.
For a long time, I was active on bulletin boards, but during the Covid pandemic, I got to like a more simple life with less information input. I also discovered I have ADHD and that less input is a good way to calm it. So nowadays I just concentrate on my own work.
I’ve made Toa into an Earth-like planet with an advanced civilisation to illustrate ideas I’d like to see taken up more here on Earth.
Its global auxiliary language, Letoa, is currently my only active conlang project. The project is informed by a degree of realism but not driven by it.
